Tropical Storm Isaias hit New York City hard in August, causing large scale power outages at a time when many of us are maintaining connections digitally. The storm moved quickly through the city, breaking branches and toppling trees, and our park was not spared the destruction. We lost a number of trees, including two redbuds, and the park was closed temporarily.
We owe a huge thanks to Josie DeJesus and María Mendez from NYC Parks (pictured above), who worked so hard to clear the damage so that the park could reopen so quickly.
