Stop the bleed: You can be trained to save a life with three quick actions. The number one cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding. So, knowing how to stop the bleeding is a critical emergency skill. As part of their Injury Prevention & Trauma Outreach Program, NYC H+H/Bellevue—a verified Adult Level 1/ Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center—provides free STOP THE BLEED training. Their certified instructors (MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs, and EMTs) will teach you using training materials specially developed to teach bleeding control techniques. The course consists of a lecture where you will learn to recognize life-threatening bleeding, followed by a hands-on portion where you can practice the skills needed to effectively control bleeding.
